Another classically used term that was brought up as in need of an agreeable definition is the term “restoration,” as it would fit into the context of our vision for the future. As commonalities in our goals are flushed out, we can move ahead in choosing a statement that fits our needs. Discussion also led to previous efforts from the Quincy Library Group, including the independent science created through that effort and planned project areas that failed to be implemented.
I challenge those people who made it to our meeting, as well as those interested in our effort, to log in on the forums and add to the discussion on community, and what you envision this group accomplishing for the forests in and around Plumas County. The forums page can be found under the resources tab, and I encourage you to add to the current discussions or start a new topic. Comments can also be made at the bottom of this blog post. I am also looking for suggestions on current science for sharing amongst this group. Some of the currently used research and scientific publications like the General Technical Reports 220 and 237 are already posted under the “Science” tab, but if you have some other publications that you feel our group should look at, please share your suggestions either in the comments or forums section. This recent meeting showed how many people believe in the need for forest management, and this new found group is already opening the lines of communication with the local Forest Service, starting the trend of shared information and knowledge. This is an exciting time for Plumas County and with more involvement from people like the group at our last meeting, positive changes will soon be inevitable.
