Butterfly Twain Fuels and Forest Health Project
Many private landowners have cleared fuels around their homes and continue to contribute to forest health with regular pile burning and underburning.

The FRSC project aims to treat surrounding Forest Service land, in which some of the units have thousands of trees per acre.

Fuels thinning is currently underway in the Wildland Urban Interface. These photos illustrate how treatments affect snow retention. In treated areas snow has remained on the ground, in untreated areas the snow is gone. As the headwaters of the State Water Project, these treatments are critical to the retention and slow-release of water into the water system.
